Tijuana born and raised, Gabriel Gutierrez Morales is a multidisciplinary queer artist and filmmaker based in Seattle. As a queer immigrant, his work centers on intimate explorations of queerness, race and sexuality. He is deeply drawn to stories about connection and disconnect in relation to identity, displacement, and shame. His short documentary A Certain Kind (2024) explores bodily performance and sexual autonomy through ethical and consent-based pornography created by a small community of Portland-based adult content creators. The short has screened internationally at festivals such as AmDocs and the Guanajuato International Film Festival. As part of an effort to help promote underrepresented filmmakers and their stories, Gabriel works as a programmer for the National Film Festival for the Talented Youth (NFFTY), and the Bainbridge Island Film Festival. Gabriel’s debut feature, Tijuana, TodavĂa, developed through the support of Biennale College Cinema 2025-2026, will premiere at the 83d Venice Film Festival.
