İlksen Jöntürk was born on July 23, 1998, in Istanbul, Zeytinburnu, Turkey; his family roots are in Sivas. He stands at 1.91 m (6'3"). He is a Turkish actor and model. He gained popularity as the Best Model of Turkey 2019 1st Runner-up. He made his professional on-screen debut in 2024, starring as part of the main cast in "Kıyma: Orman Kanunları"—a film produced by Sıfır Bir Production under Warner Bros. Discovery—portraying a grifter with an Adana accent named Tolga. His interest in acting began at a young age. He received his first formal training in 2008 at the Contemporary Artists Association (Çağdaş Sanatçılar Derneği "Sanad"), where he studied under State Theater artists for approximately a year and a half. Following his success in the competition, he received on-camera training from masters such as Ayla Algan and Erol Babaoğlu, as well as public speaking, effective communication, and diction lessons from theater artists Mehmet Gürhan and Müge Mertson. İlksen's fascination with the craft was ignited at the age of four, inspired by Willem Dafoe's portrayal of the dual businessman/madman persona in the 2002 film "Spider-Man". In 2006, as part of a school project, a meeting with Vural Çelik—an actor from his favorite series "Avrupa Yakası"—became a defining turning point. In this nostalgic interview, published from his personal archive, İlksen visited Çelik at his home and toured the set of "Avrupa Yakası," where he asked questions about the profession and shared his own dreams of becoming an actor. Encouraged by Vural Çelik's advice—"Don’t let your mind change about being an actor in a few years"—İlksen committed himself to professional training. During this same period, he visited the legendary Gazanfer Özcan at his theater, receiving invaluable written guidance from the master actor. Deeply influenced by these icons, he embarked on an eighteen-month theater training program in 2008. Having grown up estranged from his father (Yaşar Karakurt), whom he lost at age six and had only seen once prior to his passing, İlksen was raised without any connection to his father's extended family. Feeling no personal or cultural bond with his birth surname "Karakurt" due to this background, he officially and legally adopted the surname "Jöntürk" by court order upon reaching adulthood. This surname is rooted in a nickname given to him by his high school literature teacher, Füsun Boden Gödekoğlu, who first recognized his talent and provided him with his earliest theatrical opportunities in 2011. In addition to his artistic career, İlksen is a graduate of Physical Education Teaching, specializing in swimming. In 2019, he briefly worked as a swimming instructor at a private college but ultimately resigned to dedicate his life entirely to acting. Throughout this journey, his mother, Esin, has been his greatest supporter, encouraging his training from childhood and facilitating meetings with industry professionals to help him realize his potential.
